No Fillers! Review : MooGoo Full Cream

Heyo!  While I’m on a holy war of late against products that are deceptive, or unnecessary, it is also my solemn duty and awesome joy to introduce products that are quite underrated, do not oversell, they totally deserve the mentions!

Today we have a product which can be used as a face/body cream and yes!  It is MooGoo Full Cream from Australia. Here is a brand that is honest with its audience and sincere in its delivery.

MooGoo Full Cream 75g

MooGoo Full Cream 75g

*Do you see the dent on my right eyebrow?!

MooGoo Back Story

Well, it’s a funny story!  It originated as an udder cream!  That is, farmers used this cream on the udders of the cows to keep it conditioned and to produce healthy milk!  Now, I can’t think of the derma attributes of cows’ udders… gives me the shudders!  >.<

So the story goes, farmers used on cows, and tried on family members, and the rest is history.

The Ingredients

What’s special is, their claims and their strong philosophy on having no fillers in their products.  All ingredients are genuine, their places justified and serve their functions to protect and nurture your skin.  Listed are :

Water (Purified), Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Squalene (Olive), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Hydrolized Milk Protein, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Allantoin (Comfrey Extract), Piroctone Olamine, Polysorbate 60 (Food Grade Emulsifier), Honey, Apple Cider Vinegar, Humulus Lupulus (Hops) Extract.

I admit to not knowing what they all are as I typed them out, but they are starting to sound yummy!  To know more about the ingredients, the very educational website has dutifully explained the functions of most ingredients, not just the key ingredients.  Suddenly the picture just becomes so clear and you would suddenly understand so well about the product you purchase and you are applying on your body.

The Experience

As you can probably hear the excitement from the post how I totally dig this product.  Maybe I just have a boner sweet spot for products without fillers.  You can’t even find a single strand of butylene glycol in there.  What’s unique about this brand is, much like the Paula’s Choice products I own, the website lists the total ingredients.  Not only so, the brand continues to educate consumers on what ingredients do, what are their roles in skincare, they are also honest with their emulsifiers if contain any.  Most products in the world only market the key ingredients, like Piterra from SKII, but what else?

Well, but here’s the deal, despite this product being a “full” cream, it is still pretty light in texture for a body cream.  Across the internet there has been good results as a face cream for dry skin folks, but golly! It is 4.3 out of 5 on makeupalley!

It is quite a “dry” cream as in, the product disappears when you smear it around a bit, like Cetaphil Intensive Moisturising Cream or Atopiclair Cream.  It is best used right after shower, before the natural moisture in your skin disappears into thin air.  Your skin will be hydrated, moisturized but not oily.

The Verdict

Pros –

  • Super healthy ingredients
  • Brand with a conscience!
  • Strong on education, yes, power to the people!
  • Hydrating but not oily
  • Love the packaging, I carry in my bag and much better than a tube, allows for quick dispense when outside.

Cons –

  • Price is a bit steep but you get what you pay for.
  • Dries up somewhat quickly, need re-aplying.  Probably due to its non artificial formula.
  • No Fragrance.  My friend didn’t like the smell.  Smells like a warehouse to some, but disappears quickly.

I bought two of MooGoo cream when I spotted it at a pharmacy.  Knowing my friends’ 2 lovely kids have eczema, I got her a bottle of MSM Soothing Cream, most suitable for sensitive skin, and she has reported satisfied results!  🙂

No Fillers! – Review : Paula’s Choice RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum All Skin Types

Oh my fair maidens, would you accept my apologies for the lack of updates?

But no point to dwell on whiny sentiments of what could or couldn’t have, lets focus on what’s essential of key knowledge and exploration in your skincare and all the products in the market.

I have a slutty appetite when it comes to skincare.  My eyes are like a dominant predator that wouldn’t stop scanning for the next best thing, even though to the best of my knowledge, I am using what’s best.  And I’m pretty proud to say the products I use have been carefully screened through and are of quality products.  That said I’m also really lucky that the counter products just don’t gel with me.  I have tried and yes I have, but my skin protested against Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex and it’s CyberWhite Brilliant Cells in such unhealthy fashion, I just look like a kid with bad diets.  Now I really don’t agree with the jives about “if your skin gets pimplish, that means it’s working…” Bullshit.

A truly holistic product that passes all bench wouldn’t need to summon pimples, be it the phase does pass or not, a few hundred dollars products shouldn’t have triggered nasty side effects.  But that’s nothing to what I have a problem with, many products across the market have unwanted fillers, and endless combinations of silicones that’s just uncalled for in boosting your skin’s health.  I hate having a sugarcoated illusion of how smooth my skin is.  And a silicone smoothed out product that feels good on your fingertips may just mislead you into thinking “wow this product is so smooth it makes my face smooth too!”  I’m not too  much of an organic skincare fascist that bans all things unnatural, I accept the existence of parabens, glycols, silicones in the formulas.  But if a look across the ingredient lists just read endless versions of cancer causing ingredients, ingredients with no profound effects in caring your skin, well, buckle up and do better than that, and pete’s sake, be honest, it’s so sickening to have consumers thinking “this product is sooooo…. gooooood!!!”

With this notion it led me to this product a few months back, by Paula’s Choice.  It is a serum from it’s RESIST line, that boasts the package of Super Antioxidant ingredients.  Also I chose it for my combi/oily skin, cause very often rich and skin saving serums are always more suitable for dry skin.  Without further ado, lets have a quick look at the official product description :

“What makes this product unique? RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum utilizes an innovative blend of ingredients that research has proven aging skin needs to look younger and feel its healthy best. Stabilized Vitamin C plus potent antioxidants in a silky base join ingredients that repair damaged cells and rebuild skin’s protective barrier so it functions optimally. This state-of-the-art serum efficiently addresses multiple issues that cause skin to look wrinkled while reducing inflammation and the visible effects of sun damage. This product is 100% fragrance- and colorant-free. Who is this product for? RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum works great on all skin types concerned with reducing signs of aging. It is especially suitable for normal to dry or combination skin types. How should this product be used? RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum can be used once or twice daily, as desired. For best results, apply before or after Paula’s Choice RESIST Barrier Repair Moisturizer. At night, smooth a few drops onto skin after cleansing, toning (optional), and exfoliating. May be applied under or over moisturizer. For daytime, wear under a product with SPF 15 or greater. Works beautifully under makeup and is suitable for use around the eyes.”

The Ingredients

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone (silicone slip agents/suspending agents), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (stabilized vitamin C/antioxidant), Palmitoyl Tripeptide-5 (cell-communicating ingredient), Ceramide 3 (skin-repairing ingredient), Tocotrienols, Tocopherols (vitamin E/antioxidants), Ubiquinone (coenzyme Q10/antioxidant), Thioctic Acid (alpha lipoic acid/antioxidant), Tocopheryl Acetate (vitamin E/antioxidant), Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (stabilized vitamin C/antioxidant), Ferulic Acid, Caffeic Acid (antioxidants), Beta-Glucan (anti-irritant), Superoxide Dismutase (antioxidant), ), Epigallocatechin Gallate (green tea-derived antioxidant), Ergothioneine (mushroom-derived antioxidant), Glutathione (fruit-derived antioxidant), Xanthophyll (antioxidant pigment), Glycine Soja (Soybean) Seed Extract (antioxidant), Glycerin (skin-identical ingredient), Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi Leaf Extract (anti-inflammatory agent), Lupinus Albus Seed Extract, Curcuma Longa (Turmeric) Root Extract (antioxidants), Elaeis Guineensis (Palm) Oil (emollient), Phenoxyethanol (preservative).

The Decision

Now I said silicones are uncalled for.  And it was not reassuring seeing silicone as the 2nd top ingredient, but as long as it’s not a long list of combination of silicones that feed illusions to consumers, I’m okay with that.  Also with a bit of reading up on articles and up until a clinical data states Dimethicone is non-comedogenic (doesn’t clog pores, produce white/black heads) and is hypoallergenic.  Well that moment it had me sold.

You see for yourself how this serum is a powerhouse of all the goodies in skincare la-la land.  And it was priced at RM87.++ after 20% discount!  How could you say no to that?

Clicked, and it’s done.

The Experience

Well you can definitely feel the dimethicone as it is smooth, and a lil sticky too.  Like when you have the product in between your fingers and you break apart you’ll see silky strands getting separated.

I have been a good church boy saying my prayers using this product without substituting for any.  Yet again it is really the sole belief in the product claims, its listed ingredients that I count my faith on.  Because honestly, with serum packed with Super Antioxidants, which would be more suited for the defense against first sign of aging.  That means aging prevention in symptoms.  That means you use this knowing there are a bit of tell tale signs of aging, yet you are and don’t look old.  You consume powerhouse of antioxidants topically or orally to combat the first sign of aging, delaying the onset.

So there really isn’t any before/after drastic effect I can show you.  Unless there is a skin graft test that tests the level of active anti-oxidants and measure the active free radicals in epidermis.  Only then we can truly know, if these antioxidants have been absorbed and been functioning in my skin.

And that is why I use this vigorously because as it is more a long maintenance battle, hopefully these anti-oxidants keep the signs of aging at bay, for eternity.

Few things that I can point out are :

  • The texture is smooth yet sticky, it gets quickly absorbed into your skin.
  • It does not leave any grease feeling at all.
  • Does not provide any hydration.  If you’re looking for hydrating serum, keep hunting.
  • Ingredients are genuinely antioxidants.  Especially good for people with high level free radicals, eg. smokers.
  • It’s a genuine product at such a humble price!
  • 30ml only, but can go on for quite a while if you dispense the product appropriately.
  • okay lastly, again, it does not provide hydration.  Your skin doesn’t get extra hydration from it in winter.  It doesn’t sooth you down, charm you silly with hydration.

I”m very sleepy now.  So will do a lazy thing and steal pic.

Post Review : Atopiclair Cream

Heyo, this is gonna be a fairly short post.  A little correction is needed in my previous post on The Atopiclair Cream.

After being sampled a few sachets, I then got myself a commercial tube of Atopiclair Cream 40g.  It comes compact in a small metal tube.  Whilst previously I was attacked by acute dry skin, this bout I was victimized by the insane heat in the past few weeks.  My skin was breaking out everyday, heat rash recurring every few hours, itches flaring up every blink of an eye, I was always holding the wheel on one hand and scratching on the other.  I had… no peace.

Having properly acquired the commercial product, I then get a better taste of it so here I would like to make some correction.  In my previous post, I said that there is a hinge of oiliness where as in actual fact, there is NONE.  The cream is actually such a dry cream, not lubricative at all, as in, it’s not even emollient enough to massage over your skin twice.  So that’s one that I would like to clarify, but everything else stays correct in terms of its ingredients, mode of actions, efficacy and its claims.

And second of it all, I had used it the wrong way totally.  I had used it in the way you would a normal moisturiser, hah!  The horror, that’s completely wrong.  It is to be used like a medicated cream (except it’s not), that you only dot and rub on the rashes or the allergy spots.  I rubbed it all over my legs.  No wonder it is so.. “dry”.

Just to reinforce the messages again, if you suffer from atopic dermatitis or eczema and you don’t think it’s severe enough, or you try to avoid the usage of corticorsteriods, Atopiclair Cream is a really genuine product with organic ingredients as a holistic treatment as compared to Corticosteroids (if that’s not your cup of tea).  Even if the severity escalates, you can use in conjunction with corticorsteroids.  Just make sure, you wash your hands thoroughly if you ever touch corticorsteroids.

That is all.

Review : Bio-Essence ATP V Face Series

Hello guys,

Hope by now you are used to my inconsistent updates.  This product series have been parked in my to-do-list for ages and I have never seemed to get about doing it.  Well, here it is.  Calling out to Guardian and Watsons shoppers, I hope you read this cause this will be a very good heads-up.

Bio-Essence ATP V Face Series

Bio-Essence ATP V Face Series

To make this review really straight forward, I’mma review the products one by one and tell you where your money is worth, cutting out the sentimental crap.  I know, it’s crazy, it seems like I am adopting the full series as my main facial regime but I can tell you, it is not.  So I will now set myself a goal to post up a youtube video on my facial regime.  Now that it’s said, I need to keep my promises.  So keep watching this space, there’s much to come!

Bio-Essence Deep Cleansing Milk With ATP

Bio-Essence Deep Cleansing Milk With ATP

Bio-Essence Deep Cleansing Milk With ATP

By normal consensus milk cleansers serve as a makeup remover, and yet I truly believe, and always stress on the importance of using milk cleanser before washing your face, to get rid of your make-up, and dirt/dust accumulated over a day of fieldwork.  Now this Bio-Essence Deep Cleansing Milk has been my choice of cleanser for the past 1 year because, no. 1) it is economical compared to other milk cleansers from Eucerin, Loreal etc.  It is about RM20++.  And it lasts for a decent long time.  Related Post Here.

Now, the efficacy and the experience :

In terms of efficacy, defined as how much dirt is gotten rid of by how much stain is shown on the cotton pad.  With my previous Body Shop Seaweed Cleansing Milk, Bio-Essence Cleansing Milk fares at best as average in terms of dirt/dust removal, I have already made comparisons between the two in the related post.  First of all, the texture has a cream like thickness.  So when you dispense the product onto your cotton pad and start swiping away on your face, by 1st count you will see stains on your cotton pad.  But it may not mean that your face is totally cleansed, because the viscosity is so cream-thick, sometimes I wonder am I actually rubbing the creamy product into my pores n what not.

Conclusion

It is worth a buy because it’s economical.  And because you will be washing your face afterwards with a proper cleanser (Double Cleansing) so you can let that flaw mentioned above skipped.

So my verdict is : BUY.

Bio-Essence Radiant Youth Essence With ATP

Bio-Essence Radiant Youth Essence With ATP

Bio-Essence Radiant Youth Essence With ATP

I actually, love this product.  It is so practical.  But my usage for this product is completely different than it is intended.  I first was exposed to this product when I was in GZ with my sis and I saw a bottle on her shelf.  Curious, I used it and the substance is oily, but it was the turn of winter at that point so it actually felt really good after the oily-residue dries up.  However, when I come back to Malaysia, I knew in my guts that this would not work on my face.  So, what do I do with it?  I use it on my neck!  I do neck lifting massage every day and night so this serves just right for my purpose.  Just half a pump is literally more than enough for half of your neck, and this provides the lubrication needed in lifting massage.  Anything less you are dragging and tugging the skin which may cause the opposite effect of lifting.

Bio-Essence Radiant Youth Essence With ATP - The texture, oily and lubricating.

Bio-Essence Radiant Youth Essence With ATP – The texture, oily and lubricating.

The Verdict

If you do neck lifting massage and you need an oily product for lubrication, this is it.  It is not too expensive, probably priced between RM50++ to RM80++.  I can’t remember.  Half a pump is more than enough for half of your neck, and lubrication goes on long enough for the repetition needed in neck lifting massage.

Use it for Face? – Don’t Buy.  Unless you have super dry skin in winter.

Use it for Massage?  BUY.  A little goes a long way, so practical so beautiful.

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum

I bought this product because I was slowly getting sucked into Bio-Essence.  And I was also running out of a hydrating serum/essence before my moisturiser.  So, owning already the essence, and they are paired in Bio-Essence Skincare Program, it only made sense this would be my choice of hydrating essence, before moisturiser.

The Experience

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum - The Texture

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum – The Texture

I’m telling you, this product, it never runs out!  It’s bizarre.  Everyday, half a pump it’s enough to spread across the whole face.  It’s so easily spreadable.  But this product is practically useless.  It does nothing, there’s no improvement in hydration, not to even mention any of its cell repairing benefits so it claims, or any rejuvenation in my skin.  And since no benefits are seen after 5 mths use, I wonder if it’s just butylene glycol and some petroleum based ingredient in it.  I bought it in early November, and until this day, it’s not finished yet!  And I was using it day and night.  I didn’t like the product so I just wanted to quickly finish it, get over it, so I can buy my next obsession.  But it just never finishes.  Finally fed up, now I use this on my neck too.  Haha, man, pampered neck.

The Verdict

DON’T.BUY.

Bio-Cell Repair Rejuvenating Serum

Bio-Essence Face Lifting Cream with Pine Pollen

The Experience

I initially bought it for, really, my neck.  Since my neck is not prone to any break outs, I was looking for a moisturising cream, to keep my neck lines in check.  It wasn’t too expensive.  So I guess it serves to purpose, minimizing and diminishing fine lines.  The cream is really heavy, really really heavy, reminds me of the older facial creams in the early 90s.  And the cream doesn’t spread too well.  The cream is so heavy, acne-break outs are pretty inevitable.

Bio-Essence Face Lifting Cream - The Texture. The Spatula is not provided in the package.

Bio-Essence Face Lifting Cream – The Texture. The Spatula is not provided in the package.

The Verdict

Super Dry Skin and you want a slim face – BUY.

Need a heavy cream for your neck creases – BUY.

And last but not least, my most neglected product on the shelf :

Bio-Essence Complete Nourishing Sleeping Mask

Bio-Essence Complete Nourishing Sleeping Mask

Bio-Essence Complete Nourishing Sleeping Mask

The Experience

I got this as a hand-me-down from my sister.  As a sleeping mask, I don’t particularly like it.  It the feel of a layer of wax across the face.  Given time the sensation would go away.  And the next morning you do wake up with a hydrated and brightened face.  So, it’s a nice product, minus the waxy feeling on your face.

The Verdict

And if you can look past that flaw, and you just want the hydration and supple skin the next morning, you can definitely try this.  BUY.  But after trying for few days and you feel like you can’t get past that waxy feel, well my friend, that’s a huge jar to go.

*** Foot Note : Another promise out to y’all, since now you know I use 3 products on my neck alone, I will post up a video on how to achieve V Shaped Face.  Keep this space watched!

Review : Hada Labo ES Lotion (Sensitive Skin)

Alright guys, I still have a review pending, if I had not totally gone off track in my previous post.

Hada Labo ES Lotion - 170ml

Hada Labo ES Lotion – 170ml

**pics stolen from google**

Like I previously stated, I am way too late on the Hada Labo band wagon.  I did brush through the products briefly when they were first in the market but they were my mum’s, and I had terribly oily skin back then, so it wasn’t concrete enough of an experience.  Another time, I was outstation and was out of facial cleanser.  Hearing that Hada Labo was a good brand, I grabbed its cleanser in a smaller packing (before they had the AHA+BHA cleanser), and had breakouts after that.  My beautician told me that it wasn’t fit for me, and that was also the time I learnt that why people with oily skin should only use gel cleansers.

So that sums up all that I knew about Hada Labo, I know it works great for most people but I knew that I wasn’t a part of their targeted audience.  I had never looked that way since, at least not until their Firming + Lifting series came out, the red ones.  And then, this ES series came out.  I contemplated really hard on what to do, which to use, I’m in my late 20s and I should really go all out on anti-aging or aging prevention, yet again I have sensitive skin… blah blah… trust me, I thought harder and longer than when I had to take up a loan.

So upon learning that ES series had Zinc as a property, I made up my mind and went ahead with the ES series.  Because as a daily regime, I need that ZINC, and Zinc has oil-control properties.  So I thought my plan was brilliant!  Nano-Hyaluronic Acid + Zinc for daily usage, and Hada Labo Firming + Lifting Mask once a week!  I get the best of both!

The Ingredients

Hada Labo ES Lotion - The ingredients

Hada Labo ES Lotion – The ingredients

Well, upon reading the ingredients I got a bit skeptical seeing that both Hyaluronate compounds are listed as the least 2 ingredients, even though it’s been sold to be the key ingredient!  But after a bit of research I learnt that HA concentration is unworkable if it gets anything beyond 10%.  So that knowledge assured me that I wasn’t cheated by their marketing.

It is also –

  • fragrance free
  • colorant free
  • mineral oil free
  • preservatives free
  • Alcohol free

And unlike the rest of the Hada Labo series, this one is MADE IN JAPAN.  So if that matters to you, it would be a plus point.

The Experience

I grew to like the product more.  When I first started, especially it doesn’t come with a pump-head, the amount you pour out may not be meticulously correct, or as needed.  Sometimes you over pour, sometimes you get it right.  When I pour too much product, it gets really tacky, the face is sticky, the hands are sticky.  But once you have the amount adjusted each time, application is a sail.  Pat til absorbed, let it set in for a while, and follow up with your moisturizer.

So much so, I even apply it on my chronic severe dry skin on my legs!  Hah.  And it works! Remember the first boost of hydration to really thirsty skin I talked about?  It works by the laws of that theory!

The Conclusion

Oily Skin Folks – Some oily skin people are not too troubled with the oily skin, but some are battling it.  If you are battling it, this is not recommended for you.  Even with the Zinc property in it, it’s not enough for oil control.  But if you are not troubled yet have oily-super oily skin, you can use this at night in an air conditioned room.  The trick to test whether it’s suitable, is if you wake up with a layer of oil on your face and your pores dilated next day, or you have breakouts after that.  If any of those occurs, skip this, hand the product to your mom, or apply them on your legs 😛

Dry Skin Folks – Well, the dry skin folks would definitely have used or are using this.  I would suggest that you stick to the original Hada Labo Lotion as it has Super Hyaluronic Acid?  Twice the Hyaluronic Acid.  This ES series doesn’t have that claim.

Sensitive Skin Folks – Well, there you have it.  Go Grab it!

Review : Garden of Eden Age Defense Serum

Oh boy Oh boy!  I am so excited about this serum!  And I told myself, If i don’t do it now and postpone the review on this blog.  I will set my hair on fire, not.

But truly truly I so very excite!  First of all, what pegged my interest in this is … wait for it… wait for it…  It’s a Malaysian made product!!  Sold in Guardians, pharmacies and I believe Watsons too.

Garden of Eden - Age Defense Serum

Garden of Eden – Age Defense Serum

The Reason is I get super excited when I see a Malaysian Made Product that is truly genuine.  It is manufactured in Malaysia, by Maxwell Pharmacy Sdn Bhd.

So having way too much available time, I study every single product there is on the shelf.  I do this weekly, twice a week sometimes.  Depending on where I am.  So I chanced upon this product and it pegged my curiousity.

Without much babbling..

My Thoughts

Garden of Eden - Age Defense Serum

Garden of Eden – Age Defense Serum

This is what I”m so impressed with, it’s very simple.  The marketing message tallies with the right group of audience, which are people like me, late 20s-early 30s, who want to defy the first sign of aging.  That is why hardcore products from Estee Lauder or Lancome may not work for us, cause they are for matured skin type, these products hype up the cells.  We don’t need that.  We need good proven anti oxidants, massacre ’em free radicals.  That’s what is really appropriate for us in our late 20s-early 30s.

And the formula’s so simple, Grapde Seed Oil, Natural Vit E, not synthetic ones! Grapefruit Essential Oil and Triglycerides! Triglycerides!  a form of fatty acid, better lipid absorption!

No chemical fillers, no paraben, no funny mumbo jumbo I don’t understand.  Oh yeah, because it’s free from everything, it’s suitable for sensitive skin too.

Even though it calls itself a serum, but it is actually the same as the new skincare fad, beauty oil.

Pump Application, now where's my lab coat?

Pump Application, now where’s my lab coat?

The Experience

Oh man, I use it so ever sparsely.  I watched a youtube video somewhere that deals with oil based serum like this, so the trick is to use only 3-5 drops (not pumps), dispense it on your fingers and rub til it’s warm, and glide them across your face.  I suggest maybe 3 drops across your face, and another 2 drops across your forehead.  Well, maybe I just have a huge forehead….

The Texture

The Texture – That’s 2 drops of the product.

2 droplets of product when rubbed.

2 droplets of product when rubbed.

The Conclusion

I’ve only used this product for the 2nd day, lets pray it doesn’t break me out.  I am fearful of oily substance like that.  But I think when used correctly and sparsely, it will be alright.  Do look it up, if you’re looking for the next product to step up on your usual 3 steps regime,  give this a go.  It’s priced at RM33.++ at 5ml.  If it fails, meh, I’ll just use it on my hands and see if my hands sparkle after the bottle.

Recommended : Dry-Combi, Normal Skin – Yes.  Combi-oily, Oily, Acne Prone – Nah, you have better priorities in your skincare treatment goals.

Review : Hada Labo Retional Lifting + Firming Mask

Oh boy, it’s not gonna sound good.  I am gravely disappointed.  You could almost bet that it was a sure win.  So much so I had a legit plan laid out and this was gonna be a crucial part of my weekly treatment.

But it’s okay, I digress.

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask

Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask

The Experience

Sorry, I’m gonna be downright harsh and say that this is disappointing!  This box comes in 4 pcs which is the most expensive set of masks amongst all the HADA LABO ranges, at RM49.90.  After much daunting my temptation and playing with my weakness for the curious, I thought of a brilliant plan, change my facial routine completely upside down, and incorporate this into this master plan of mine.

I will write about my seemingly brilliant plan in coming posts.

The Packaging : Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask

The Packaging : Hada Labo Retinol Lifting + Firming Mask

Hada Labo Retinol range hosts a series of genuine age fighting ingredients that strongly encouraged and gave me the ultimate confidence that this will definitely work.  I mean, retinol? SUPER HA???  COLLAGEN AND HYDROLYZED???  Come on!  If common sense isn’t enough proof, this is the official claim from their website :

  • Helps to rejuvenate skin cells to significantly improve skin’s elasticity and firmness.
  • Instantly smoothes skin’s surface to reveal healthy and youthful looking skin.
  • Skin PH balanced.  Low irritation.
  • Free of fragrances, mineral oil and colorant.

So, lets check on each of these claims.  But remember how I said Skinfood mask gave a sense of melted kitchen wrap over your face?  That’s it guys.  It was soooo sticky!  I laid in an air con room, had the mask on the 30 minutes.  Upon removal, both my hands were sticky and my face is so sticky.  I patted, patted and patted, hopefully this would go away, cause I really wanted it to work.  In the end, I gave up, I didn’t follow up with any of my serum because there was simply no way there could be anymore room for absorption.  Instead, I even had to use my day moisturiser (which has mattifying effect) to take away the stickiness.

Did my skin appear glowy, refreshed, brightened like other masks?  No.

So did I look younger instantaneously?  I didn’t expect it to and yeah, it didn’t.

Irritation?  Matter of fact, a lil bit!  My skin had it’s usual redness as a way of protesting against my experiments.

Was my skin smooth?  HOW CAN IT BE SMOOTH?  It’s so sticky!!  Ants would get themselves trapped if they crawled over my face in my sleep.  So, NO!

So seriously guys, I hope I don’t put you off with my two cents.  In any case I”m wrong, do let me know!  As for now, I stand… disappointed.

*pfft*
